got $50 of circ pennies from the bank. halfway through(1 $25 brick), and $7.55 in copper cents, 15 wheaties, with the oldest being 1917. and what is this stamp on this penny? anyone know?
Yep. They were selling them around the time of the bicentennial I know of, along with other stamps on cents with bicentennial themes. My mother bought me a bicentennial one with a liberty bell stamped on it for a dollar or two.
There are all kinds of counterstamps on the pennies. Some of us collect them for fun. The oldest cent I've gotten in circulation was a 1910 wheat out of the Safeway change dispenser. It's always cool when that happens.
the final count on $50 was 22 wheaties, with the 1917 being the oldest. about 25% was pre '82 copper. i now have about 50lbs of copper pennies. i dont care what anyone says, im hanging on to them.
