I got this off the internet and it sure looks like the 1889-O "Oval O" to me. If it is, I think that it is the Vam 17. What do the experts think? Thanks, Charlie
I can't tell. The 1889-O oval O is a Top 100 coin. There are only two 1889 oval O's.... VAM's 2 and 17. They both have the mint marks set high. Yours is set high. From the full-coin image of the reverse, it looks like an oval O. From the close-up, it looks like a round O that's worn. Both VAMs 2 and 17 have far dates (more than two and a half denticles from the neck). Sorry, I really can't tell.
