I have read that rhodium is so expensive, that it makes buying pure rhodium jewelry nearly impossible and jewelers usually just rhodium plate jewelry for this reason. But, is there anywhere you can buy pure rhodium bullion in one ounce bars? And is rhodium the most expensive precious metal?
Not really it seems. Someone tried to make Rhodium coins privately but I don't think that turkey flew too well. Kitco and now a competitor sell rhodium powder in a vial and also have 'allocated storage' or something where you pay an exorbitant premium both buying and selling plus never see your metal. I have given up trying with rhodium. Platinum, palladium, gold, and silver are readily available in many forms, are bought and sold regularly (rhodium will have no buyers when/if it again hits $10K), and I derive pleasure from them as coins, bars, and ingots. I wound up collecting Barber halves as a result of buying a bunch as bullion, then falling in love with them. Rhodium is the 'Girl from Ipanema'. Despite her many and pleasing allures, it's best to forget about possessing her. John
