Going through my Indian Cent collection i noticed what looks to be a clash on the obverse of this 1899 Indian Head Cent . Any insight on what this possibly is would be very appreciated , as i am trying to sharpen the very little numismatic skills i have.
Clash marks are common for the IHC series. I don't think clash marks constitute a variety in this series.
I'm not seeing a clash but even if it is there, Rick Snow has given an S# for very few clashed die coins.
I am not seeing a clash. Maybe some PIDT (ghosting) or die deterioration. If there is a clash you will have to get some better photos.
The typical clashes that I've seen the most are parts of the O in ONE from the reverse visible to the left of the head on the obverse.
The wreath runs along there but that looks too ill-defined to be a clash as it doesn't really mirror any of the wreath...
Looks like it could be the wreath but I’d rule out a clash as there is no detail and a clash will be easily defined.
Found this this morning while researching , my photos my not be sufficient enough to show all diagnostics but in the hand they are very evident especially the clash going through the C in cent . Any thoughts ? Thanks
Thank s glad to be a part of the forum ! When looking at any coin via a photo it can be difficult to to determine details especially photos toaken by a novice , nice to have a little acknowledgement as i expand my numismatic knowledge !
