This coin I found earlier is .....well I don't know what it is! 1943 steel cent is what i thought it was. It weighs 2.57 grams, and it is magnetic. It is damaged from circulation, but the thing that is most interesting about it is the doubling! If this is a doubled die, then the spread is stronger than the 55 and 69s! There are letters all the way across the top of the coin. A little hard to see from the damage, but it has lettering across the top of the coin. And the coin almost has a copper look to it sometimes! I know it looks different than the other steelies that I have! What coin from 1943 or earlier weighs 2.57 grams ? and magnetic at that! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Can someone help me? Im stuck!
It's supposed to be magnetic, as the steel is made from iron. The weight is usually in the 2.7-2.8 range, not off by much. Some of that could be wear/corrosion. I don't see doubling. If there was doubling, the better condition coin would make that more apparent. You can see anything on a beat up coin.
That’s one nasty-looking steel cent; even if there was doubling it would be impossible to tell because of the corrosion. Steve
Ah...... sorry Kentucky.... I'm sort of a crusty xf -au type of guy who likes women...you ms 69 dudes are out of my league.
