    Don't bother.

    It's just more PMD.

Environmental damage, chemical damage, plating, Sharpie... doesnt matter, its not a mint error.

Significant environmental damage to the copper. It did not leave the mint like that

It was minted in 1971 in Denver Colorado. It probably weighs around 3.11 grams and is 19.05 mm in diameter. It is made from an alloy of 95 percent copper and 5 percent zinc. It has a specific gravity of 8.83.

Its normal color ranges from a copper color red to red brown and even brown. Exposure to chemicals and other environmental contaminants can turn the color a rainbow of colors to solid black.

It can have a range of luster from brilliant to matte.

It is worth 1/100th of one US dollar. It is not rare, edit: 2.911 Billion were made in Denver that year.

It is currently against the law to melt copper cents for metal value.

Enjoy it in all its glory!

its worth more than a penny due to copper content. 1971 Penny Facts. The 1971 penny is made from a composition consisting of 95% copper and 5% zinc. Because the value of the coin’s copper content exceeds 1 cent, all 1971 pennies are automatically worth more than face value and are therefore worth keepin

Enough were minted so that every man woman and child could have 8 of them in their possession and still have more than 200 million for general circulation and that is JUST the 1971 D Lincoln Memorial Cent
