Ok i found 2 of these Hutt River Province Desert Storm $5 Coins in my desk the other day. Thats $10 i looked online i cant find out if there real US money like if i can go use them at a store or anything. And i found online like Ebay that they sell for around $5.50 So there not worth anything just the $5 so that makes me wonder if its real US money. So im asking and please help can i use these Hutt River Province Desert Storm $5 Coins at a store. Oh also the year is 1991 Please someone help!!!! These are pictures of Front and Back
Its worth about 5-10 dollars, now if you have a coin with Prince Leonard on it then that is probably worth much more...I want one and you dont find them for sale much. They are issuing more coins now but not as nice as the older issues IMO. http://www.wcoins.com/HuttRiverProvince.htm http://www.imperial-collection.net/hutt_river_coins_01.html ^^ early issues from the 70's...
Simple answer is no they can not be spent in a store in the USA they are not real coins Here is a link to there official web site http://www.principality-hutt-river.com/
haha Ok well the funny thing was after posting on here asking if i could use them. I went to BP its a gas station by my apartment and i asked the guy if he would take it. and i told him the hole story about how i posted on here and blah blah blah blah. Then he said ill give you $5 for it haha. So idk what he did after that i bought a pack of smokes and told him to keep the change. Well thanks anyways MIKEeB
I have the same 1991 Desert Storm $5 coin. It is in a small plastic sleeve and has a pull-out describing (statistics) the AH-64 Apache Attack Helicopter and the subject (coin) Says it is "The Worlds First Legal Tender Desert Storm $5.00 Coins"
You could probably spend them, in Hutt River Province. And that would be a long trip just to spend the ten dollars. LizS, are you sure that isn't a Marshall Islands $5?
Hutt River did do a $5 1991 Desert Storm coin with an Apache on it. Interesting little place that claims independence but Australia doesn't recognize it.
OK I know Marshall Islands also did Desert Storm coins. Yeah I know Australia doesn't recognize their Independence (Even though they followed all of Australia's laws that applied to becoming independent), but Hutt River sent Queen Elizabeth a congratulatory message for her 90th birthday, and the Queen was kind enough to send them a reply thanking them and congratulating THEM on the 26th anniversary of their Independence!
I have been reading all the replies on these coins. I have the complete set of 45 coins in mint condition in the original book holder. e-bay has the set for $145. The face value of the entire set is $450 in Australian Dollars. I don't the value is much more than "bragging rights". My oldest Son is a coin collector, do when I die they are his.
