    Hi all.

I bought some mint rolls from the the bank that are clearly from the federal reserve.

How can you tell if these are from the Philadelphia or Denver mints?

    Thanks for your help! :)

Just a wild guess but isn't Harrisburg, Pa very close to Philadelphia, Pa??

If you open them up, you should be able to tell by looking at the coins...

I don't ever recall N.F. String providing rolls for the Mint. I'm guessing that these rolls came from a dealer that used the String facility for wrapping coins from a ballistic bag.

Obviously I'm not interested in opening up rolls of uncirculated coins. Just want to know where they were minted. Thanks.

I've got mint rolls from the fed with nice black and white wrappers that clearly show a P or D, but all of them were made after 2012, when all of the presidential dollars were NIFC. As I never ordered any pre-2012 rolls from the fed mint myself, I just don't know how they were presented to consumers. The two rolls of Washingtons I've got were sold with American flags on the wrappers, and they do show the P or D. But I've got a number of rolls that look like the ones above. Most have been labeled with a pen, indicating the mint.

I just assumed, someone got a box of each year and sold rolls, presumably the box was labeled properly. <shrugs>

I do believe that Mint rolls are clearly marked U.S. Mint. These looked wrapped from a local dealer, Brinks or a large bank.

For starters those are not Mint rolls, they are just rolls of dollars that were rolled by a contractor. They are probably all uncirculated. The only way to know what mintmark is in the roll is to open the roll.

Rolls sold by the Mint, including the post 2012 $250 boxes are I believe in Mint wrappers and they do include the mintmark on the wrapper. I don't know if the $250 boxes that the Mint sold for face value in 2011 in order to try and get more of them into circulation (The ones everyone bought with their miles and cashback credit cards and then immediately dumped at the bank.) had the Mint wrappers or not.

The black and white wrappers come from the mint and are clearly marked 'P' & 'D', and (as conder stated) are assembled by an outside concern. If you want clearly marked (P and D) rolls you have to purchase them directly from the US Mint. Otherwise, open the rolls and see what you caught, as 'string' don't make any delineation between P and D........

Man that's a real shame. Wish the last owner had marked the wrappers for me. :-/

Was really hoping to not open any. I've got more than a dozen of these red wrapped uncirc rolls, different presidents. Some are marked, but many are not.
