Hi all, I am curious as to how you all store your rolls of coins. In specifically, the rolls from the mint with the jazzy paper on them. I have all the 2009 Lincoln's P and D and the Shield Penny rolls in the Mint paper. I bought coin tubes for pennies, but with the paper, they don't seem to fit. I also have nickels that don't fit nickel tubes. Any suggestions?
I use the square tubes and tap the ends to flatten down the ends of the rolls. Then, most of the time, they fit. Another option is to buy the storage boxes that have the dividers. Most of these boxes hold 50 rolls and you stand them on end. One last option is to buy the storage boxes that allow you to lay the rolls flat and two rolls deep. JP's Corner has these. www.jpscorner.com Chris
I very carefully open my unc rolls and use gloves to get them in the round plastic tubes. Then I stick them in my safe. Gosh I hope I aint doing anything wrong
My less valuable rolls (Rolls of modern coins, for example) reside in .30 cal ammo boxes. Just the right shape/size, nice carrying handle, and cheap The more valuable rolls ride in roll rays acquired from a friendly banker friend, which rest in the safe.
The soft plastic square tubes are terrible to store coins in. They turn the BU finishes dull. The hard square ones are better.
I'm using empty monster boxes. Some rolls are in paper, some are in tubes. I keep my ASE's in mint tubes. The rest of my PM coins are in air tites.
I reuse the boxes that I buy my search stock in. I always open them carefully with a long knife. I just put the rools right back in. I even store my older coins in reused bank wrappers and back into the boxes, labeled by year and mint. I think the really good stuff should be slabbed individually.
