Good morning! I tried to look for an answer to this question on line, but can't get a real answer. I saw the explanation pointed/blunt 5 thing, but nothing that helped with the 9. Could you tell me what I'm looking for in this Canadian 1959 hanging 9? Thanks in advance.
If you go to the Canadian Coin Price guide, and click on any of the varieties, a page will usually come up with photos and explanations. You didn't say what coin you are talking about. But here's the link, surf around. http://www.coinsandcanada.com/coins-prices.php
Thanks. Yes, I went to that one. It's for 1959. However, it shows me a picture, but not as compared to a non-hanging 9. So, I don't know how to distinguish between them.
If you can be patient to later today, I have a few of the hanging digits (and double hangers) at home that aren't imaged yet, I'll image one and post it. In the meantime, here's a link to Coins & Canada for that variety. Scroll down a bit.
Here are some images of one of my Double Hanging 9's (also have the obverse die clash on QE2's throat, also pictured.) Pulled about ten of these from an original roll last year, along with some 1961's. Full coin: Closeup of the date: Closeup of the throat:
