How do I clean a PCGS coin holder?

I recently bought a PCGS slabbed coin thru ebay. The seller wrapped the holder in clear, highly sticky packing tape. I wasn't very happy and told him so. But now I need to clean the outside of the holder without contaminating the plastic, the lable inside or the MS coin inside. I would appreciate any suggestions or soultions to my problem.
    Thanks

First do the old thumb rubbing , and probably alot of it. To clean up the leftover stuff use some rubbing alcohol on a soft cloth. Try testing this somewhere on the slab that is not directly over the coin. DO NOT USE NAIL POLISH REMOVER.

Thanks, I've considered that at first, but I don't want a blurry spot on the holder. The adhesive is all ovet the holder.
    Any other ideas?

This might sound a bit strange, but rub a dab of peanut butter into the adhesive, wipe it off, then use dish soap and water to clean off the oily residue.

Goo Gone won't work? Or even a little WD-40?

Sure it will. Of course it'll affect the plastic underneath, leaving a smeared appearance. :(

Take some of that super sticky packaging tape that has the fiber running thru it (its usually white) & just take it and use the adhesive side to "blot" off the other tape residue- It works very well- from many past experiances-put it on & in short burst and pull it back off fast & it will take everything with it:D

I tried peanut oil but that just spread it. The I tried Purell, the anticeptic gel with alcohol. That clumped it together and I was able to get the bulk of it off. But it was blurry. Then I thought of the one solvent that always works....WD-40. a little spray on a rag and it removed it all!!! Nothing got to the seams or underneath. Now, not only does it look great but smells great too. Thanks guys for your help.

Any type of glue on these slabs or mint sets can be cleaned by using "De-Solv It". You can find it in Wal-Mart or Home-Depot. Just spray it once and wipe it with a paper towel. It works like magic and safe on those slabs or any mint sets.

Just plain Mayo works. Sounds funny. But it works.

use a generous amount of rubbing alcohol and a soft non-tearable cloth.

A word of warning. Rinse the area with distilled water on a cotton swab. Not sure how the WD40 will affect the plastic but a long time ago rear windows of convertible cars were plastic. Many turned yellow after a while due to people cleaning them with rags that had some oils on them. I don't know if slabbed coins plastic will do that but any residue still on there may have a later, not to nice effect.

I thought everyone liked the smell of WD-40. I do. Fish do. Anyway this morning I checked my shiny smelly coin holder and it was a bit cloudy. I'll try some soap and water to get the WD off. If that doesn't work, then its off to Home Depot for a solvent. I hope I won't end up at PCGS for a new holder. I haven't left any feedback for the seller yet.
