    Hey all,
I just picked this up today and was wanting to know if anyone has any info on who compiled these and when? Also just any general info would help as I know nothing about it lol. Also you can try and give an estimate at what its worth if you would like. Thanks!!:D

I examined one of these before and noticed the majority of the coins are low grade and cleaned/polished. The majority of the value comes from the silver coins and I hope you didn't pay any more than $100(if that) for it. I remember overstock selling these sets for over $300 at one point. The other thing I remeber too is if you pull the sheets of cardboard holding the coins in place out, you'll find a big piece of tape that goes all the way across the reverse of every coin.

Most of the silver coins and a few others do look cleaned to me aswell. Thanks for your input:)

I purchased mine new in the 1960's

I also have a "Heritage of America coin collection" that I purchased new sometime in the 60's. It was offered through the Gulf Oil credit card and sold for $199.00 plus $4.20 S&H (I still have the original advert.). Each coin was (and still is) enclosed in a clear plastic container that is held in place by the close fit to the recess in the felted board.
It sounds as if the set to which you referred as having "tape across the back of the coins" and the coins appearing polished had been tampered with and the coins removed from the original clear plastic holders. Mine is marked set# G-29711 and I assume the G stands for Gulf Oil, I also assume that they were marketed through other Credit Cards.

I don't have a clue what it is worth either, I have the original coin placemeny chart listing all coins in the set.

Hey I have the same set it is #G-19049, just wanting to know if you got a answer on what this is worth to the collectors. I received this as a gift back in the 60,s and was given to me by my parents both have passed on, and just would like to know what it is worth if anything. Thanks

    Beautiful ! Very nice.

It seems odd that folks got 'em in the 60s, and yet it contains an Ike $1 (not minted until 1971).

I too has the identical collection. Is there any other information about this set and how to get both individual value and or set value? The coins are sealed in plastic coin holders and there is no evidence of tape in sight. Some of the coins are in very good condition and some are worn. There seems to be quite a bit of silver in this set and a 1935 A Silver Certificate.

    Thanks for your help

The coins are for the most part cleaned and polished so to resell them you wouldnt get that much value. The best would be to sell the whole set together. Whatever information is here is all the information that i have found.

I have one of these as well and was interested in selling mine. The coin collection is complete and the case is about 98% intact. I have looked all over and this is the most info I've found about it. If anyone is interested please send me a pm and I will gladly send pics and work something out.

I do apologize if this is the wrong section for this.
