I have been interested in some of the high end Jefferson nickels that are on the Heritage auction site. I have yet to bid on anything because it seems pretty complicated and more for big time collectors/dealers. They have all kinds of different auctions and different ways of bidding and ending times. With the Great Collections website, I just signed up, bid and paid using Paypal, and got a basic, simple shipping rate. Reading through Heritage's terms, it looks like they don't accept Paypal or credit/debit cards (which is how I pay for everything) and shipping can be high. It has scared me off. Don't want to bid on something and then not be able to complete the transaction to their satisfaction or something like that. Does anyone currently use Heritage and what's the in's-and-out's of buying from them? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Im having a hard time too. Theres a coin I am extremely interested in that ends on the 20th but I cant figure out how to get them to approve my visa card. Ive gone through their site and followed the instructions, but it seems they want you to put a CREDIT card on file and I only use DEBIT. I tried it anyway and it says my card is validated but still no access to actually being able to bid. It is terribly annoying trying to figure out and ive all but resigned to just using one of my dealer friends who has an account and just paying them 10-15% extra just to acquire the coin for me. Tis extremely frustrating
somehow it just let me by using my paypal account. Last night it kept kicking me off when i tried this method, but that was probably because i was using my phone and a tablet. Thank goodness. Ive got very nice coin im keeping my eyeballs on, and one other im gonna try and scoop up fairly cheap. This is my first time though, so we will see how it goes.
Were you able to pay them using PayPal or credit/debit, and how much was shipping? Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk
I had the same feeling when I first looked at heritage. This was last year so I'm relatively new to it as well. I signed up last year when finding a bust half I needed for my type set. It really is pretty simple despite the "paper work" and yes you can/do use paypal/credit card and I found that it runs just as simple as say ebay once signed up. The biggest difference being an auction percentage fee and the wait time to receive your coin can be a little long. outside of that it really is pretty simple. As far as different auctions go, they have weekly auctions so that is where the "time" are all over the place, as well as the big auctions like the FUN auction which is coming up soon. All and all it is pretty simple really once you've signed up. You bid, you pay, you receive your coin. Yes the enitial glut of info can be overwhelming but it really is just as simple.
+1. But then again, I've never tried to PAY them for a coin, so I don't know how hard / easy that is. Paypal makes everything very easy, so I assume it would be easy.
I am registered and am able to bid, its just the transaction after I have won that worries me. Their Terms and Conditions say they accept wire transfer, checks, cashiers checks, cash, etc. (basically anything but plastic). Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk
I've successfully bid on several lots from Heritage and have had no problems, although I usually just call them and give them the VISA check card by phone.
Yes, they do. The card I use has a VISA logo and says 'debit card' at the bottom. Last time I paid they told me they have that card on file and in the future I can just drop them an email saying to run the invoice on it. They can't take an bank's ATM card, of course, but I assume you mean a card with a VISA or MC logo.
They absolutely accept PayPal and credit cards. You have to tell them you do not want their cash discount, but that is not complicated. However, for a single cheap coin, their shipping can get a bit expensive.
I looked in my profile settings and they have a place to put my credit card info on it. That answers my question. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
