Good morning all! Took a break today from U.S. coins and was going through some world coins I had received from my grandfathers collection. One of the coins was a nice 1972 1/2 Franc. I can't seem to find any solid information on the coin. Anything information will help!

Not much to tell. It's Krause #931.1 worth 50 cents or less; pure nickel, this design minted by the tens of millions from 1965 to 2000, when the Euro coins appeared. The year 1972 without "O. Roty" at the bottom of the obverse is a significant error, cataloging $50 to $200 depending on condition. Some years exist in both coin and medal alignment. The walking figure is "La Semeuse," (the seed-sower), a popular feature on a number of French coins over the years. Exchange value in 1972 = about 12c to 14c.
I have the exact same coin also WITH the "O. Roty" -why did you say without when both our coins are with?
He was saying *there exists* a version of the 1/2f without "O.Roty". He wasn't saying that you or the OP owns one Interestingly my copy of the newer "Le Franc" catalog does not list this variety, whereas Gadoury does.
I have a half franc that seems to be a die clash but I can't really know for sure my self. It looks like it's metal drains from one letter to another and the characteristics on the coin. Any help will be appreciated.
This can be helpful when it comes to french modern : http://www.lefranc.net/monnaie,1-2-franc-semeuse,198.html http://www.lefranc.net/ Q
That is a half franken/franc coin from Switzerland. See the Latin country name "Helvetia" on the piece ...
