Hi all, I have a collection of Farthings from 1902-1936, all in a nice collection folder by Whitman - looks in gd condition, this is my first set of coins and I was wondering if they are worth anything! I came across these in my fathers loft, and he wasn't interested in them and gave them to me. View attachment 338122 View attachment 338123
Hi and welcome. There are no special or scarce dates for Farthings dated between 1902 -36. My suggestion is if you wish to sell is list it on eBay with a start of £0.99 and let the market decide. Here are some current listings with prices all over the place and very few bidders, there is a set similar to yours at just over £10 with 23 hours to go. http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_trksid=p4840.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xfarthings in whitman folder&_nkw=farthings in whitman folder&_sacat=11116&_from=R40
Think I'll keep them then! Found a value site valuing them at £1-£5 each depending on condition? Most are in a good condition - who knows ... I'll probably keep them!
A value site is just a guide and coins rarely reach the guide price, if you are not experienced with coins, what you describe as good condition may be poor to a collector. Here is a proper current guide price for your dates, note that there are no prices for most Fine or Very Fine coins between 1902 and 1936 as they are common. http://www.coins-of-the-uk.co.uk/values/farth.html
