I've had this Golden 1979 P Susan B. Anthony Dollar Coin for a little bit and I wanted to know how much it was worth but I couldn't find anything about it. Anyone know anything? It's in what I believe its original mint packaging.
I'm not sure what others think, but to me I would rather not have it in there. If you are going to sell it I would say leave it in the packaging.
These just haven't gone up in value and although the toning on yours is nice, it's not that desirable a coin... agree with @Cheech9712 at a couple of bucks
The packaging adds no value and the golden color is from toning. Again no extra value. Over 300 million were produced and yours looks like the Narrow Rim variety. You have a nice looking coin that is the most common for that year. It’s only worth a few dollars, at best. I would leave in the mint packaging. If you remove it, it may cause some damage to the coin itself over time.
The Wide Rim (Near Date) is the one sought for 1979-P. Although yours is very common, if you keep it get it into a capsule or, at the very least, a 2x2 flip. That cellophane packaging doesn’t offer very much protection. …imo…Spark
In reality collecting coins is not a get rich scheme but like everyone said leave it in there it will be worth something someday just not today
I was kind of rude sorry guys probably doesn't matter though :/ anyways I think it could be toning but examples of toning online don't look like this coin so I just don't know. Should I send it in for grading?
I wouldn't. It's a common date SBA that appears to have come from a mint set. It's MS but looks to be a lower MS grade. The grading fees will greatly exceed the value of the coin.
You’ll never recover the cost of grading. And Toning comes in many shapes and colors. NT or Natural Toning are what you want. AT or Artificial Toning look wild with lots of colors but you want to avoid them.
If you enjoy the clan keep it as it is. The cost of having it graded and slab is just not worth it. You can probably find one already slabbed for less money than you would pay.
Still kind of rude. I think I convinced myself I had something worth money though still not sure where It came from aside that it was a gift to my mom.
That alone makes it priceless. I have quite a few high value coins in my collection…. But none of them are as valuable to me as the two common JFK halves that came from my late grandmothers tiny collection.
