Well, based on your pics (very nice, btw) if there were any issues to attribute to the Mint, they've been obliterated by whatever happened to it after it left the Mint.

Severe corrosion & probably circulation damage or intentional damage from a science experiment. Idk, but you can still pass it off as a cent, if you hurry (those zinc cents are the worst!).;)

Btw, couldn't you just use the handle "buddha", & we would know? :D:rolleyes::happy:

    Not a capped die.

I've not seen a capped die on both sides of the coin before. Usually just on the obverse. Yours is a dryer coin.
Here is one of the few capped dies I've found:

I doubt it's a dryer coin, the rims are too nice.

I disagree! The rims are "rolling up" on the legends on both sides and the devices are "mushy" which is typical of a dryer coin.

I have to ask a question then. I would agree that the overall softness of the image would point toward dryer damage or something similar........ However this is a zinc core cent. Wouldn’t the abrasion that created the mushiness not reveal the zinc core of the cent? I would expect the mushy appearing areas to appear silver.

I don't think so. It would be a gentle push on the edge for a prolonged time, thereby allowing the copper coating to expand and not expose the zinc, JMHO.

The acronym for that is: ESDC, early stage dryer coin. ;)

What makes you think it is an early stage? Nah! I just think it is an ACDC......another crappy dryer coin.
