Do you have any vending machines near you that give dollar coins as change?

I don't.. but once in Connecticut, I stumbled upon a vending machine that gave me dollar coins in change (I put a dollar bill in a machine then decided I didn't want anything) I only had a few dollar bills on me, but it was fun putting them in and pressing the return button to get the coin equivalent.. nothing rare, but it was fun. I love spending the common dollar coins at stores and seeing what the cashiers say!

It's really nice to find a vending machine that does not give quarters for change... are you lucky to have one of them near you?

I get $1 coins from a parking garage machine. Slap in a 20 and get all you need. Even got a couple sac coins.

Those ship yourself machines in the USPS post offices give dollar coins in change, along with the stamp vending machines.

Yeah, the stamp vending machines at the USPS usually give them out. (Though the post office near me actually has a new machine that doesn't take cash at all; if you want to pay cash you have to go to the cashier.)

I don't, but I know they're out there. A friend of mine, and fellow collector, worked for the Government Procurement office in Manhattan. They vending machines returned the Sacs and President dollar coins in change.

Keep using the coins and get rid of the $1 bill. Use $2 bills to fill this void in the register and use the area in the till for half dollars for the $1 coins. Stop the waste of the paper currency on the smallest bill. Go coins!
