I have been holding on to this Quarter for a couple of days now and was wondering it's worth. It is a Utah State (P) Quarter . It shines on the front however it has this dark greenish marble color with hints of yellow on the back. Please can anyone one tell me if it's worth more than usual or point me in right direction? I'm new at this and just created an account today.

Environmental damage, worth twenty five cents.

That's just damage from sitting outside. It's worth 25 cents.

    First, welcome to the neighborhood!

There could be any number of reasons for this coin to tone on one side only, but it is not the kind of toning that would add a premium to the coin.

Aww man! Thanks for the advice. Any pointers on what to really look for in collectible coins?

What denomination are you a fan of? Do you like bigger silver, such as halves and dollars. Personally, I like pennies and dollars, but collect everything. A good set to start out with is wheat pennies from 1940-1958 (what I started with). They are collectible, yet won't break your bank at all.

Next, have you tried coin roll hunting? It is fairly easy for beginners with halves, and you have no chance of losing money, unless you count gas prices... There is a whole forum dedicated to CRH on coin talk, so you should check it out. I believe there is a thread somewhere about what to look for in pocket change, so just search this in the box and it will help you a lot.

Finally, you will learn so much just by being on here, so continue to be on CT and you will soon be knowledgeable.
