Hey everyone! Just sorting through a large group of new world coins I picked up this week...came across this tiny little Guatemalan 5 Centavos from 1958. I know there are a couple varieties known for this coin (size/shape of the date, length of the quetzal's tail - although there aren't any good images I've seen online yet) but the fields of this coin are definitely proof like. Krause doesn't show any proof coins having been minted in this year for this coin...so what do you think is going on with this coin? Personal guess...heavy, heavy die polishing resulting in mirror-like fields. Agree or disagree...but back up your opinions if you can
nope. but there is a variety of small date and large dates. not sure which date you have. compare your date with ones on Ebay.
Silver coin with a melt value of 0.74 cents. Worth $5 in MS-60 condition (small date). $2.50 in XF-40. Large date $3 in AU and $4 UNC.
Looks like large date/long tail. It's just a particularly well struck series, many I've seen were prooflike in appearance.
