Yeah they made dimes in 1965, nope just 10c. It looks like it had been underground for a while; it has just been affected by the environment.
Yes, 10 cents. It's not copper, it has environmental damage. It looks like it's been in the ground for some time.
Technically, it does have copper but all dimes 1965-DATE are. Its composition is a a core of pure copper sandwiched between two layers of cupro-nickel (75% copper, 25% nickel).
As stated.. Environmental Damage I have found hundreds Metal Detecting - The clad layers of Dimes and Quarters is affected by soil, dirt, sand.. also Nickels
Hi I'm sorry to intrude but I have a real solid copper dime no environmental damage what so ever it's not missing clad it is solid copper and is a flip over restruck in collar
Have an XRF Analyzer to back it up? If so that would be neat, but as Paddy said, it might be enviro damage. Tag me in the post!
I have a solid never had cladding 1956 no environmental damage at all but I am new to collecting . Where can I get my dime tested with the XRF please ? Thanks Pat
Here it is 1965 copper dime . It’s unfortunate I cleaned it when I got it I was told by a coin collector it was painted , But it isn’t painted . Thx . pat
Not missing clad layers here. Not an error. The photos confirm what every one else said. Keep trying, however. It is what makes this hobby fun.
Here are a couple missing clad errors from my collection. They are normally very easy to tell from those that are damaged after leaving the Mint. And my newest one struck on a damaged planchet
Those look great thanks for the help . I want to get it x rayed to see if it’s solid .I will let you know the results thanks . Pat
