Hi cointalk members, I'm a first time consignor at Great Collections. I notice on my consignment page there is a title designated " Promote" and there are 3 different categories under it costing $2, $3 and $10 respectively. Could anybody please advise me if it would be of any extra advantage to me if I also choose any of these "Promote Options. Best regards, Shyamal
The "Promote Options" put your items to some degree of "front and center". The degree depends upon which one you choose. IMO unless you are offering items that are "off the beaten track", the Promote Options are not necessary. If your item is a Draped Bust large cent, people that want to look at it will find it without "Promote". But if you have a 1941 Palestine 20 mil coin (key coin) then you might want to Promote it. Few (if any) people would search for it in GC.
Hi Kanga, Thanks for the quick response to my enquiry. I have the following 3 coins listed: 1969S 5C Mint Error PF 67 Obverse Struck Through NGC Graded 1963 25C PCGS PR69 DCAM 1990S DDO 5C FS-101 PF70 ULTRA CAMEO NGC Graded From my research I could find no auction record for the last coin 1990S DDO 5C at this PF70 grade and only 2 graded by NGC have been certified at this PF70 grade and none by PCGS. So I think it could be categorized as a special coin. Any advice regarding this particular coin and also the other two would be greatly appreciated. Best regards, Shyamal
I have no feeling for those coins. They are out of my interest area. Wait for a 20th century dealer to comment.
My feelings are that it is a shame that a reputable company needs to be paid to honestly present the items they already make money off of. Psss, if you pay me a bribe, I will let you skip a few places in line.
They do honestly present the items, there's nothing dishonest about giving someone the option to pay to have an item highlighted
I dont find much if any value in the promotion options. Anything thats special will end up with a banner or at least on the hostlist anyways. I havent really noticed any beneficial price increases for the promoted over not promoted
I sold a proof DCAM seated liberty quarter last month at GC and they promoted it as one of their featured coins without me paying extra. It depends on the coin. If you want to promote a lesser value coin then I see no problem in paying them a small fee to do just that.
