Coins of the Roman Republic

    I'm confused about these coins in a general way and I will use this one as an example:
    ROMAN REPUBLIC, C CALPURNIUS PISO L F FRUGI 67 BC AR DENARIUS
    Obv: head of Apollo right, hair tied with a band, M to leftÊ Rev., a naked horseman galloping right,, C PISO L F FRV below, XV RCV 348; RRC 408/1a; Calpurnia 24ff. some scratches, toned Good Very fine. ( 18 mm , 3.8 Gm )

    I know that Frugi was a patrician family and there were a lot of Piso Frugis, or men with the same name. My question is why is this particular name on this coin? What was the process?

    Most helpful! There was my guy L.PISO FRVGI in the year 90.
