    definer definitely....! LOL

I'm starting this thread as a way for all CT members to identify coins shows in their area so that other member can see what's going on in the hobby and can plan to attend. I searched and didn't find any other particularly appropriate forum/thread and decided to start this one. I think we should all post here with a given format of the dates(s) of the show followed by the general location. If there's a flyer include that in the post or make sure that you give full directions for those wanting to attand. Be sure to follow the Coin Talk rules with regards to advertising as shown here http://www.cointalk.com/t34131/.

By placing the dates as the first part of any post, the other members can quickly tell what's coming up and where. If you like this idea, please do two things:

    • Post your local shows (used the "Go Advanced" option when replying to put in a show date and location)
    • Give me a like rather than posting - I'd like the thread to be clean and consistent with only coin shows listed.

    Thanks!

    Ken

I usually refer to www.coinshows.com to find info (dates, places) on coin shows. The owner does a good job of keeping it up to date. One really good thing I've seen happen here on CoinTalk is people arranging to meet at their local (or even national) coin shows. I've seen quite a few friendships started that way. Another thing I really enjoy are the post coin show review posts, Charmy does an especially great job with this, and I always enjoy reading those threads.

I wasn't sure if I was able to post location...didn't want folks to think I was promoting a show. Thanks for detailing the show.

Lately counshows.com has been lagging a bit, especially in my area. The Madison show is tomorrow, and by looking at that I would miss it. Numismaster is become better IMO

Thanks for pointing that out. It always seems up to date for the local coin shows here in my area, I don't look at shows in other areas so wouldn't know. Of course, any CT member is welcome to post up a "Who's going to the Madison Coin Club Show in Janesville WI on Jan 27th" type thread. You're always more likely to catch the attention of the most relevant people with a very specific title like that, rather than a generic "Coin Shows" thread.

I went to a coin show today in Mesa Az. It was very busy and I spent a little cash.
they were selling ASE at $4.00 over spot. They were concerned that the mint might not make anymore(it came across to me as I have some and you don't and if you want some your going to pay) I can wait ,no hurry, there are always some out there to buy. They have drawings for gold and silver coins so I bought lots of extra chances had fun at the show my wife and I went to lunch then home was a rainy day here but it's better here then at my summer home in Wisconsin.

I also was at that show today. Got a 1837 capped bust half and a 1875s twenty cent piece for the type set.

I tried to behave, but there were too many other options.

Getting ready to head out to the Alexandria Coin Club show in Springfield VA (6401 Brandon Ave). Going to be looking for some coins from other CT members; things like 1923-D Peace, IHCs, Buffaloes, an 1891-O Morgan, and some ancients. Also looking for some Franklins and a MoH commemorative for myself. Wish me luck!!!!

I'd go to the show in Springfield also, but don't dare since I went to the Vienna, VA show last week.

This has probably been handled before but maybe I missed the answer. What is the actual difference between a NGC and PCGS coin grade and pricing on the same coin? Is the a quality concern or just preferences? Thanks, Bob Vaughan, Clovis, CA

wxcoin Getting no respect since I was a baby

Not much difference other than the PCGS coin can bring a few dollars more in some instances. People building PCGS registry sets will have to buy PCGS graded coins. NGC registry sets accept both NGC and PCGS. Personally, I like the PCGS holders better than the NGC ones.
