    Hello all,

I need some advice. I am now starting to stay in Orlando, FL full-time now and I need to know if anyone has some suggestions regarding good coin shops/dealers in the area. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

I don't have any but I think there's an older thread on Coin Talk where someone reviewed Orlando area coin stores. Also have you seen the Directory? There are 74 dealers listed under Florida. Hopefully someone who lives there will chime in.

Hi Jwt, thanks for the reply. I looked at the directory and have started doing some research from there. Thanks for the suggestion. I am now hoping I can get some opinions on some of these places. I'm sure most are pretty good, but I want to make sure that there aren't any stores here that I definitely NEED to stay away from.

By coincidence, one of the largest and oldest coin shows in the country, will be held the second week in January at the Orange County Convention Center. There is expected to be 1000+ dealers attending from all over the country. I'm sure you will be able to find many local dealers there.

Thanks for the info., Chris (cpm9ball). I actually did know about the FUN show here and attended earlier this year. Unfortunately I didn't know I'd be in the Orlando area this long and didn't think to seek out local dealers. I was, though, able to find some places yesterday and dealt with a store that I will most likely continue to deal with in the future. Thanks again!

I wasn't too impressed with Orlando coin shops when I was in the area. there was one nice dedicated coin shop, but I didn't end up buying anything. they had an awesome CAC pine tree shilling. I'll try and dig up the store name. ****edit: here is the store. http://orlandocoinexchange.com/index.htm

If you can get to the FUN show, then that is a no-brainer. 100 times better than any one dealers store.

Also, this is from a previous thread on the subject, I quote myself:

"Ancient Artifacts" is a very cool coin shop / rock shop / jewelry shop / artifact shop. We could have spent a lot more money and time there. My sons bought rocks and lose gems, and I held my first gold and silver ancient coins, including a very nice Owl. The guy and gal running the place were great with my wife , sons, mother, and me. I did not buy a coin but I was very tempted to buy my first ancient coin, raw even! Check this place out if you are near Orlando.

Per my previous mention of the store "Ancient Artifacts", here is the link.

I know this site doesn't look like much, but this store was very cool:

Maybe give the owners a call a head of time, feel out if you think this would be a good place to stop.
