can you get coins graded for free? You know, like MS65, right? I have some really cool coins and I wanted to know if you can have your coins graded somewhere for free or really cheap. Thank You! Happy New Year!!
Yes. Post good pictures on here and you'll get a bunch of grades. You may get what you pay for, however. In all seriousness, assuming you meant "certified" instead of "graded," then the answer is "no". No company can possibly certify your coins for free. They have to pay their graders and all the other people that keep the company running, and they have to pay for those spiffy holders.
ANACS is about the cheapest, at 10 dollars or so a coin, on specials . BUT, if their rare coins, then one of the other top 2 ...
Speaking of ANACS, they have periodic specials (I think monthly?) that you can take advantage of, too.
Take them to a show where TPGS offer "free" opinions. Where do you live? Check the TPGS site to find out what shows they are attending. ICG always has a professional grader/authenticator for free opinions. ANACS only has a full time grader/authenticator at some shows giving free opinions. SEGS has people at their table - don't know their status or if they give opinions. NGC gives opinions by appointment during certain show hours. Have no clue about PCGS - probably not at any time though.
Generally speaking, any TPG will grade your coin for free "provided" it benefits them in the market place. For example, if you found an 1894-S Dime in your great grandfathers knick knack box, I feel confident is saying that any TPG would be happy to grade it on a complimentary basis.
I just sent 7 off to anacs for $75 graded, shipped, etc. Not free, but pretty cheap for what I was wanting to do.
I called ANACS earlier in the week and they told me the special was for 5 coins for $75. including shipping. Must have been a different special.
I just find it to be very sad and embarrassing that so many Americans don't have any grasp of basic English grammar. I don't know if it's their being lazy or ignorant.
If you are going to get cheaper coins graded then ANACS is okay. However, if you have any rarer or higher end coins, IMO it would be much better to spend the and get your coin(s) graded by a more well known company like PCGS or NGC. Also, you can talk to your local coin dealer. The more coins you send to a grading company the cheaper the price per coin becomes. Sometimes(for a small fee) coin dealers well send your coin in along with theres. I know someone who did this a few years ago and it worked out good for them. Best of luck? If you don't mind me asking what type of coins to you plan on sending to get graded?
If I end up going to Hell when I die, it'll be because of something I did to someone who misspelled something.
A certain groop of people whom have takenover the edyoucation system in the USA have dumbed us down! U shold cee the math crape to. Fortunately, I don't care about grammar/spelling here; only the ideas! I'm glad no one focuses on my errors Yet?

Sorry, but I disagree . . . I think poor spelling, whether the result of lazy learning or lazy communication, is reflective of a recent trend toward American mediocrity, followed by American inferiority, if left unchecked.
their = them To add... sorry we're not all as perfect as you. I don't feel embarrassed misspelling a word at all, y should eye bee? I could care less what someone thinks of me, and that includes mi grammar. What group would you rather fall into? Someone who makes mistakes like most of us 'Merican's.... or sit on a coin collecting forum waiting to correct someone's spelling mistake.... the choice is yours.
