Is it possible to buy coins from a local store or facility that has a coinstar? If so, have any of y'all done this? and how did it work out for you? I figure since I hear so many people finding silvers in the reject slot that buying coins wouldn't be productive. I would be most interested in their nickels. Don't hear of them getting rejected that often.
Coinstar has individual employees that handle the servicing of the machines... Also, they don't use bags, the coins all dump into a big bin, and the bin is actually switched out when the machine is serviced. I'm guessing that bin is then sent to whatever company has their change processing contract and counted then.
No you cannot. I've called both the national coinstar folks and tried to talk to the local service they are using here in my area - both said no they cannot do it. Most banks will give you a line of BS too about not being able to sell you bags from their machines. By me, they say that they have agreements with the coin services that does not allow them to sell the bags out of the machines because it's tracked differently. I still don't buy it but in the end - I can't get them.
dang. well i guess i'll stick to the same old boxes and CWR. i may lay off the halves for a bit. going to increase the dimes and nickels. might even dabble in quarters. i saw 3 silver washingtons in a coin machine bag when they had to change the bags out for me the other day. they would not let me buy them for some reason...
My local bank has a coin machine, and they say no, because they have no idea how much is in a bag. They just send it to the reserve.
