Do you guys think this coin should have cameo designation?

Dang sure looks like it to me, though eBay image hosting is poor and downright awful on mobile, so i cant see it so well on my phone screen. It's in an OGH, so maybe they just weren't giving out CAM designations at the time? Or there could be some subtle frost breaks that held it back. Regardless, it looks nice.

Very likely not. I think they angled it/lit it to exaggerate it a little. I own a very similar 1942 and I can make it look just as cameo as that one but in reality there's not enough contrast. It's almost impossible to get one in a cameo holder (just look at the pops PCGS has graded 4). If that one had a legit chance it's been attempted already numerous times guaranteed.

Here's mine, I'm guessing the linked coin would be similar. A very nice coin but not cameo.

Looks good, but things can change a lot in-hand. I have a '38 that is cameoed a bit, but not enough to get the designation.

If it is in an OGH, it hasn't been tried numerous times.

I mean reconsideration service. If it was a legit chance at cameo reconsideration would have been attempted. It turns a super common $350 coin into a ridiculously sought after rarity worth probably 5 figures (I know PriceGuide says $3k for a 65 but that's way off, a 66 sold for $13,500 - a legit cameo 65 would easily fetch closer to 10k)

Coins that are close to cameo are super easy to make look really cameo with lighting and angles. I've owned a Barber Quarter like that as well.

I knew Cameos were tough, but didn't realize they were that tough. I've never owned a proof Walker.

Yeah they're super tough. When I was shopping for a type example I kept searching for cameo and wondered why I never got any results, finally went to the pop reports and found out haha

    Per PCGS:

    1942- 4
    1941 - 0
    1940 - 0
    1939 - 2
    1938 - 2
    1937 - 0
    1936 - 0

Total of 8 (+ NGC but not taking the time to look that up) have made cameo out of a run of 75,000 struck proofs from 36-42. Hens teeth!

Oh, Nabisco discontinued the Cameo cream sandwich cookie in 2012, except for a version made on Puerto Rico.

Those cookies were, if memory serves, rather awesome. Kinda like Keebler's Vienna Fingers, yes?

Yup. that's it. A local Puerto Rican bakery apparently bought the trademark. I hear they're even better than the Nabisco original.

Even though the label is partially hidden (I don’t like that as a buyer) the PCGS number confirms it as a PR65. I suspect it’s a cousin of the very familiar eBay description “ALMOST CAMEO!!!!!”

The coin in the OP will not receive a cameo designation. While that is a strong cameo effect on most of the devices, in order to earn a cameo it must be strong on *all* of the devices (with no breaks). Unfortunately, there are obvious breaks in the feathers of the eagles. The OP coin also suffers from a lack of cameo on the Sun, which is one of the toughest areas.

Perhaps @Skyman can post a picture of his cameo Walker. I had the privilege of seeing that coin in hand once, and it was absolutely stunning.

Cameo Walkers are *incredibly* tough. I would refer you to Roger Burdette's exemplary book discussing the proof coins of this era for more information about their creation, and why they are so rare: https://www.wizardcoinsupply.com/united-states-proof-coins-1936-1942-eightieth-anniversary-edition

The real kicker for getting a Walking Liberty cameo designation, amongst other things, is that the sun has to be frosted.

Mmmmm..... that is still one of the most attractive Walkers I've ever seen.
