Hi All, If I have a coin "1978 Panama 1 Balboa", I know that it is sterling silver "0.925" and it's weight is 26.73 Grams. how can I calculate the actual silver content of the coin. Thanks.
You have 24.72525 grams of silver. .925*26.73. Divide it by 31.1034 and you have .7949 ounces of pure silver. Chris
http://www.ngccoin.com/poplookup/WorldCoinPrices.aspx?category=6259&worldcoinid=22268 In any case, the formula for ASW is: (Gram weight) * (fineness) * 0.0321507466 = ASW in Troy ounces. Edit: It is sterling. I was wrong about the fineness.
I found the answer 5 seconds after posting the question .. Next time I shall do more research before asking .. Thanks
By golly, when CTers answer a question, it knows it's been answered....and it better STAY answered too!
