When working as a teller 20+ years ago I came across a $10 bill that was completely blank on the back side. It was part of a shrink wrapped and banded "brick" of brand new bills from the treasury. I took it and the next bill that was sequentially numbered. It has never been circulated other than me taking it home, and has been in a safe deposit box ever since. I have seen threads about one dollar blanks and 100 dollar blanks but never a 10-spot. Is this a common misprint? Any guesses as to what it is worth? I live in Hawaii so going to a coin dealer is not much of an option. I have photos, but they are too large to attach.
It has happened with all denominations of notes. Is it common? Not in the least! Keep that baby BTW good move getting the next sequential note.
:thumb: I don't think my bank friend would be giving that one up to me... Nice find Welcome to Coin Talk Darryl
My 2001 Krause catalog has the price of 225 dollars for a bill missing the back printing in uncirculated condition. But it depends on the market for that type of error. It should be worth more now. Lou
Here are some of Gerry's pictures. Compression on the second is way up - sorry for any lost detail. Darryl
There is currently one on ebay for $45 with 20 hours left. You may want to watch how that ends. As you have the next sequential number the pair will be worth more. Also you need to consider the serial number and series. Best Regards Darryl
Been doing some reading Darryl? Errors can be very hard to assign values to depends A LOT on being at the right place at the right time and finding the right buyer. Bet the 5 that you mentioned goes up quite a bit from $45. Depends on who is watching it. clembo
2 different notes sequential. The 1st is the blank back the 2nd is the normal I'm still waiting for the face of the 2 notes
That is a nice error note. Aside from selling off much of my collection in the late ninety's (timing couldn't be worse, but there were personal reasons), I did manage to hang onto a pair of $20 bills sequentially numbered and both missing the first print (reverse).
So the ebay auction closed at 256.78 + 13 s/h. - not too shabby. And you have the next note to go with it. I'd say that's a nice return on your investment... Good Luck Darryl
Very nice find. I have often thought that working in a bank, would net you all kinds of little gems showing up.
Nice..very nice and they are New York Note;s to boot!! Guess I am going to have to hunt ya down... LOL.. Regards, RickieB
Definately a nice error. If I were you I'd put those two away for awhile. Being an old style bill, and uncirculated to boot, will only help bump the price up more if you go to sell sometime in the future.
