So, I received this in my change before Christmas of last year, and I am thinking about sending it in. It does have the proper weight: 2.27 But zero zinc is showing anywhere.

Should I send it in for grading?

Environmental Damage or ED. I can see the copper layer in the second photo. It's dark but there all the same. ;)

It is too beat up to send in. It is a spender.

And what is this talk of zinc? Since 1965 Business Strike Roosevelt dimes have had a pure copper core sandwiched between layers of CuNi alloy called “cladding”.
    No zinc.

Consult the Dime section of your Yeoman Red Book…imo…Spark

Don't waste your money. As mentioned, it is merely environmental damage.

Where would you send it in to? Do you have a PCGS membership or NGC? As you know, you'll want to send in a number of coins at once, since the shipping/insurance costs can be quite high.

No, it would just be a waste of good, hard earned money. It was not black when it left the mint.
