Hello, I am new to the forum and know nothing about coins. I have recently "inherited" a relative's coin collection. Part of this collection includes a postcard sized package titled "American Bicentennial Commemorative Collection". Encased in plastic within the card are all 1976 uncirculated coins including 2 half dollars, a quarter, dime, nickel and penny. Everything except the penny appear slightly tarnished as if they were silver. The penny is interesting - a lincoln memorial, but not copper colored - instead silver colored but not tarnished. Since it is part of this card, I cannot weigh it to see if it is aluminum. It is extremely shiny. Any thoughts? Thank you! RustyWD

I would doubt that the mint sold that set---I would guess that the cent is plated with a silver metal---- Speedy
Welcome to the group, I think it is a private issue set. What does the box/holder say, if anything at all?
This look like some thing Littleton coin company put out in 76 as a tribute to the bicentennial. And they have been known to plate coins.
Thanks everyone THanks everyone for taking time to give feedback! :smile There are no markings on the back of the card or on the box. I have a feeling that all of you are probably right - private issue with a nice shiny nickel plated penny. . . RustyWD
