I'm sure it will be difficult for some of y'all to share your selling secrets but I doubt that sharing this info is gonna get competitive for you. I'm just wondering what coins sell the best on ebay? I know that Morgans go very well because they have such a huge following but what else is a good coin to sell? :kewl:

So what's your guess, US coins?
Dimes, Nickels, Lincoln cents, Modern coins, pre-1964?
    World coins?
    Tokens?
    Morgans, Peace dollars?
    Error coins?
    Something else?

Pretty much any coin without a reserve and with decent, clear photos sells very well on eBay. Just make sure you list it in the correct category with a clear title and accurate description, don't end your auction at an odd hour or on a holiday and it'll sell for a fair price. Whether or not you make money at it depends on your purchase price of the coin of course.

On ebay you could sell your old shoes if you wanted to. Ever watch that segment on the Jay Leno show where he shows all the really stupid stuff they find on ebay? If you want to sell coins on ebay, almost any will eventually sell. I'm not a big fan of ebay but if I was I think just for the fun of it I would take a rather common coin, scratch it, dent it, cut off an edge, acid part of it, then see how much I could sell it for on ebay.

Any coin will sell on e-bay. The question is "Which coins bring a good price relative to their FMV ?"

To answer that, we ask another question - what are the characteristics of the E-bay marketplace ? What is the profile of e-bay buyers as a whole ?

In general, E-bay buyers are less sophisticated than certain other markets (i.e. top auction houses and major shows). Therefore, it is not a good place to sell specialist coins i.e. coins whose value depends on subtleties such as die variety or die state. In particular, die variety coins which have a high rarity rating are lost on most e-bay buyers.

On e-bay, keep it simple. "Mainstream" coins are best.

In my experience any coin that is UNC or BU will sell well above book value on eBay, especially if you have really good pics.

The only way you'll get a good price on anything below AU is if you have BAD pics, and somebody decides to take a chance. lol

Wish I had more of those 2006 silver eagle anniversary sets to sell.

When the price jumped to just over 400 bucks I listed some for 390 buy now and before I could pour a cup of coffee they were gone.

Some old semi-keys will sell for above value even if in moderate condition (e.g., 1911-s cent, etc.)
