Here is a machine that takes loose coin and puts it into the tight rolls. It is a Brandt model 1820. It wraps 20 rolls of a single denomination per minute. This type of machine is used in small to medium size operations.
I've tried to load a video of it in operation but I'm having trouble as it tells me I don't have the correct extensions. Any help?
In the mean time here are some still pictures. Maybe this can help explain some of the odd wear marks on coins.

Coins really take a beating. Amazing when you see great looking coins in circulation. Thanks for sharing this.

@beaver96 - I assume that it is the wrapping mechanism shown in the last image that is responsible for so many "end-of-roll" coins bearing circular scratches. ~Chris

Yes, Those hooks come together on the spinning stack of coins and crimp the paper to close the rolls. I wish I could get the video to post. it would show this in operation.

I always wondered where those circular scratches came from. Diameter was too small for just coming from abrasion from another coin's edge.

Thanks for sharing the photos on the automatic coin wrapper. Looks like this is the type that makes the circular "end of roll" marks.
