Not sure if the is the correct place to post this question since there is a forum on just nickels, a forum on what's it worth and other discussions where errors are discussed...well, i just want to know if these are errors or not (or damage). The photos of the single 1913 type 2 nickel: there is what i think a rotational error ( i'm not sure how to measure the angle), but you can see the angle from the pics. the other picture of four nickels kinda speak for themselves. the first has an area that looks almost like tire treads in the rim. the one next to it isn't completely round. the bottom left just look strange, and the black triangle shaped thing on the last one is a v-shaped gouge. since i am selling these (for my mother-in-law), what kind of prices should i expect? thanks in advance...
Yes the one nickel does appear to be rotated slightly but it also appears to have suffered some damage. The other coins are definitely damaged.
On average, buffalo nickels with dates go for about $1 each. Unfortunately, the damage on yours will prevent you from getting even that. The 1913 still has good detail, too bad about the corrosion spots. If you want to see what its going for, search ebay for 1913 type 2 buffalo (NOTE: Your's is a P-mint, don't get excited by the prices on the D & S Mint coins) Seems to go for about $5-10 in about the same condition as your coin...I don't think the minor die rotation would add anything to the premium as minor die rotation was more common back then. Shame it wasn't minted in San Francisco....then you'd be looking at about $400. Hope this helps.
corrosions spot? that's nothing, you should see the roll of steel pennies! looks like they were fished out of a salt water tank... well, even at a buck a piece -- i have over 400 of them to sell! i already went through them looking for early mint marks (didnt find any). i sold the best looking ones to a fellow forum member. the rest will be rerolled and put up on ebay in the next few day. after the nickels are sold, i'll get to the 20+ rolls of silver dimes...then the weaties, then the silver quarters, then the silver halves, and whatever else my mother-in-law has....
