I recently found out about rolls like these, and I don't have very much information on them, were these a common things wrapping up BU morgans and trying to sell them for more? Or were these rolled a long time ago somewhere and these are common? Any information would be appreciated. Even if I collected Morgans, I wouldn't buy them in a roll off ebay! Shiny one at the end, Carson City and look at the crazy bids being offered, up to $1,577.00! Someone could end up paying thousands of dollars for one or two CC Morgans, quite a system!
Not really. I think it’s best to buy Morgan’s one at a time so you can see them. If you want a roll then buy 20 of them and place in a roll yourself..
I just remember seeing a roll similar to this have all BU Morgan's but then again, Morgans are so old they'd never be wrapped at a bank I assume right?
You can always take the GAMBLE and report back your findings, but if there were a poll...the results would be high to the scam side. The seller name associated with a coin shop would suggest they are not leaving money on the table. True Unsearched rolls in many denominations are still out there but as someone else said...I don't think Morgan's were rolled back in the day.
There's a guy on youtube named Taras that bought some of these morgan rolls you see on eBay just to see how it went. It wasn't TERRIBLE but it wasn't good either. He had his LCS appraise them and sometimes he broke even or close, and others he clearly lost money.
They didn't roll coin like that at that time. Those coins would have sat in bags. Wrappers were probably intended for Ikes. It's a lot of money for a gamble, but then again, that's what gambling is all about. It's like those unsearched wheat cent lots. EDIT: I looked up the bank on the wrappers - it closed in 1968. So the wrappers were intended for Morgans and Peace, but probably date from the 40s or 50s. I'm sure the guy got empty wrappers and rolled these, of course. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Farmer's_Bank_of_Carson_Valley_(1597_Esmeralda_Avenue,_Minden,_Nevada)
Not originally, I have bought a roll before, it was an in hand purchase. They were all 88P Morgans in UNC/BU.
It says roll of 20 Morgan’s in the description. How would they know that if they hadn’t rolled it themselves (meaning no peace dollars)?

If someone sent back the open roll with 18 Peace dollars and the 2 end coins, maybe the seller would quit selling them Do Not Do This...
Thank you everyone. Appreciate the feedback. I only ask cause I've bought some OBW and have successfully graded my own pennies in high MS67 grades for some 70s years, but figured Morgan's would be a long shot.
Right. The original containers for Morgan Dollars were bags of 1,000 pieces. Anything else would be bank rapped. With all of the counterfeits that are out there these days, I'd be concerned about what is in the middle of that roll. Having shiny coins at each is not enough. Yes ago, I knew a scam artist who sold Morgan Dollars rolls to investors for something like $500 each. The catch was you could not open the rolls. If you did, any future buybacks with him were null and void. The rolls were in plastic tubes so that you could see the edges, but you still didn't know what you had. A real "investment" should stand on its own. If you chose to sell sometime in the future, you should not have been obligated to go back to that dealer, who has been out of business for many years. The last I heard, he was working as a fortune teller.
