My daughter found a coin and we know its Arabic because the only English on it says "UNITED ARAB EMIRATES". The rest including the date is all in arabic. On the front it has what looks like a arabic genie lamp (dont know how else to explain it). On the back it has a arabic symbol. It is silver and about as big as a US half dollar and is very heavy. If anyone thinks they can help with finding out exactly what this coin is worth or even what it says it would be of much help!

    Thanks..... :)

    Welcome to the forum vanillabean.
Your description sounds like a copper-nickle 1 Dirham, worth 50¢ to $2.75. Cu-ni is the same metal used for U.S. nickles and the outer cladding of post-1964 dimes, quarters and halves and does have a sort-of-silver appearance. The date is beneath the jug on the reverse, in Arabic numbers showing both the western date and the Muslim date. It was minted from 1973-1989.
