I plan on putting some cash aside. One day I may need it. If I don't it would be nice to have something special so I thought of a brand new slip of 100 consecutive numbers. I know they are available because I went to a restaurant the big town (100 miles away) recently and the cashier broke open one and gave me 4 consecutive new dollar bills in change. But out here in the boondocks no bank I have tried ever sees them. Bill size does matter but I'd prefer $20 in case the Andrew Jackson bill goes away. But I don't want to pay a premium from a dealer because I may just end up using it as currency if there is a bank holiday.

It sounds like you want to buy an uncirculated $2000 "strap" of $20 notes. This thread provides some good information about acquiring new currency: http://forums.wheresgeorge.com/showthread.php?91000-How-do-I-get-uncirculated-bills.

You can have your bank order new currency for you in November with anticipated arrival in early December. I will say from experience that otherwise finding new currency tends to be hit or miss throughout the rest of the year. I feel big chain banks (such as Chase, BofA, Wells Fargo) have a greater likelihood of having new currency in stock than smaller ones.

Thanks NOS. That is exactly the information I was looking for. Helps a lot.

Last week I picked up two $50.00 straps of new consecutive $1 bills from my local PNC bank branch. No bid deal just gotta keep asking. When the new $100 bills came out a while back I kept asking for them at a few PNC branches. One of the larger branches asked me how many did I want. The head teller gave me a few small straps that I took to the safe deposit room, went through and removed five consecutive $100 notes.
I wasn't thinking so didn't check for ultra low serial numbers or other unique items.

    Good Luck

Man, I could have given you an almost unlimited supply of consecutive $20's a few months ago. At the bank I work at, Loomis would bring us week after week all new bricks of consecutive $20's. I mean, we probably got over $1 million worth of them. We still get them in now, but not as frequent. We hate them because they stick together and jam up our ATM.

That's generous. I'd even have been willing to pay for them!
