I must have gotten the same email you did. It's the first I have heard of them. Fortunately, when I looked through the lots there was nothing I "had" to have. Let me know if you give them a try. I do use V auctions regularly just not with this seller.
I've bought from him before on ebay. Very nice coins if you like Parthian and Sassanian. He mostly only deals in higher end material. IMO most of the coins in that auction are priced too high to start.
I've known Siamak (the owner) for about 30 years and can vouch. He now works with his cousin (George, I think), who I have only met once or twice. Just dont call him 'Iranian', he prefers 'Persian'. His collection, 'The Sunrise Collection' was some time back. Some may remember.
Thanks, I will take your advice, I have three coins from the, "Sunrise Collection".... I saw two lots that I would like to add to my collection. Hopefully, my bids will hold up. John
Some of their Parthian coins seems not to be authentic( I am not sure ). First time, I checked their store 2-3 years ago. I am double minded about the authenticity of all their coins. But for sure most of their coins are authentic and very beautiful
No problem! Great provider; each time, everything smooth... One of several over the years... SASANIAN KINGS. Shapur I. AD. 240-272. Æ Tetradrachm (10.78 gm; 27 mm). Mint I (“Ctesiphon”), phase 1a, ca. AD 240-244. Bust of Shapur I right, wearing diadem and mural crown with korymbos / Fire altar, flanked by two attendants wearing diadems (type 2) and mural crowns. SNS type IIa1/1a, style Abi, pl. 20, 5-A8; Göbl type II/1; Paruck 95; Saeedi -; Sunrise 731(this coin). Choice VF. From The Sunrise Collection.
They exist as a shop since many years in vcoins. So no worries. I only remember a case of a fake gold daric fraction they sold and then a swedish dealer trying to resell it. Their prices are high but there are others much worse than them. Some of their coins are coming from cng auctions with a huge added profit margin. But again others (eg palmyra) do the same and post cng coins for sale 2 days after the esale closes
I bought about seven coins from them in the course of the years. They are very much high end, but it's only the best they are offering on Vcoins. I bought one of my most attractive coins from them: AR Kidarite drachm, about 400. Unknown king. Obv. Frontal bust with a leafy crown, topped with a poppy head leaning on a crescent moon. Hairballs at the sides of the head. Broad ribbons standing on the king’s shoulders. No text. Rev. Fire altar with one assistant, left. To the right a large vase or bowl filled with branches. Under it, the word: ‘pylwc’ (according to Pfisterer) or ‘Jadana’ (according to Vondrovec). 29.5 mm, 4.00 gr. Göbl Hunnen 15 (= Vondrovec 15 A). Pfisterer 15. Vondrovec I p. 32. Type 15 (not 15 A). And here are some other coins I bought from Parscoins (and very friendly and forthcoming they are): Geta caesar 198-209, AE17, Nikopolis ad Istrum, now Nikyup, 20 km north of Veliko Tarnovo in Bulgaria. Obv. Bust r. Rev. Basket of fruit. 17 mm, 2.7 gr. Shapur II (309-379), silver drachm. 22 mm, 4.33 gr. Peroz (457-484), AR drachm, mint ST. 27 mm, 4.2 gr. I wanted the very best Peroz drachm I could find - naturally, a very ordinary Sasanian silver coin, easy to find Fine or VF, but I wanted a better condition. Here it is.
And: AV 1/3 dinar Saffarids 981-991, Khalef ibn Ahmad, emir of Sistan 963-1002 AD, issued in his third reign in 981-1000. Caliph At-Taï (974-991). Name of Khalef on both sides. 14 mm, 1.4 gr. AR multiple dirham, Samanids. Nuh II (or III) bin Mansur (976-997), no date. Local imitation. 38 mm, 6.45 gr. AR 2 dirham Ilkhanids, Mohammad (1336-1338). Mint Ahlat, 738 AH (=1337). 18 mm, 2.49 gr. All of these coins are in excellent condition, and that's what I went for, when I saved some money or I had something to celebrate. I craved for the gold Sasanian dinars, wow they are splendid, and noticed Parscoins didn't always put a large surplus on these, sometimes only 15 % on a coin I saw they bought on CNG. However, I never could afford any of the big things.
I have bought from Pars Coins for many years. He usually has coins of very high quality. He usually attends most of the major shows in the U.S. and Europe aand I have seen him in London, Frankfort, Munich, the NYINC as well as the summer ANA These are a few of the coins I have bought from him 1. Hadrian Sestertius Rv Diana stg. 2. Athens Tetradrachn Starr V A 3. Seleukos I Tetradrachm Susa mint
From all your posts, I would say that Pars Coins is a great seller/ auction house. I will definately bid on their auctions. Thanks for all your imput, much appreciated
Dazzling group of coins!!! Thank you so much for sharing. One of those 3 are on my all time favorite coin list
