I have this miniature 1910 $10 gold Indian replica. Seems to me I once read that these were 8 carat 1/2 gram. Anyone know anything about them?
Without knowing for sure, without looking it up online, I'm going to say it is gold plated with the copy stamp on it.
Is that a COPY above the eagles tail feathers? When I first saw this thread I thought is was miniature golf, not gold. Lol
I know this is bent, octagonal, mini and gold, but I likes it! I've never seen one of those $10 minis, do you have any info on it?
I don't know anything for certain about your mini-gold coin. Here are a couple of mine. They are fun to collect and won't break the bank. +
I know nothing, but I've seen little 8K gold tokens and such like this. That part seems plausible enough. You're not the only one. On the "mini gold" theme... This little Mexican Maximilian token is 22K. @Matthew Kruse won it in my Giveaway #57. It's a privately struck fantasy like your mini-$10 Indian, there. Pretty good gold content, though. (12 mm) Ancient mini-gold. OK, technically electrum rather than gold. Teeny-tiny. Greece (Ionia, Phokaia): electrum hekte, ca. 478-387 BC (9 mm) Medieval mini-gold. Sicily (Norman Kings): gold tari of Guglielmo I ("William the Bad"), ca. 1154-1166 (13 mm) Modern mini-gold. Nepal: gold proof Asarfi of Gyanendra Shah (1/20th-ounce), Lord Buddha commemorative, VS2052 (1995) (14 mm)
Those mini coin copies are made by private companies and have been made for years. Depending on when they were made they can be found in 24Kt, 22Kt, 10Kt, 9Kt, 8Kt or even 6Kt. They can also just be gold plated. Usually the fineness is NOT marked, and since they are privately made there are no standards.
