I have a really stupid favor to ask. Being that I'm still really new to this whole thing, I'm still learning what all the abbreviations are, do you think someone could clue me in on as many as they can?

Well that wasn't it.....I wasn't trying to say you messed up...
Didn't ANACS use to go by ANA Grading Co.???...it seems like they went by another name for the first few years......but then I wasn't collecting then so I can't say for sure...just something that is in my head...

ANACS originally stood for American Numismatic Association Certification Service and it was owned by the ANA (American Numismatic Association).

In 1990 the sold the grading service to Amos Press. They kept the initials but now they have no actual meaning. (ANACS has been sold again but the initials still have no actual meaning.)

After the ANA sold ANACS they started up another service that only authenticated coins but did not grade them. That was ANAAB (American Numismatic Association Authentication Bureau). This service closed down three years ago.
