I would like to start cherry picking my pocket change (1965-present: 1 cent thru dollars) I already have The Standard Guide to the Lincoln Cent (Sol Taylor) which seems to cover varieties from 1909 thru 1999. Is Cherrypickers Guide to Rare Die Varieties Vol 2 4th ed by Fivaz a good book to purchase for Jefferson Nickles thru modern dollars (Susans & Sacs)? Any comments would be appreciated..............
'Strike It Rich With Pocket Change' by Ken Potter is a good book for beginners, who want to learn how to cherrypick or sift through pocket change, but the Cherrypicker's Guide is good for the more expirienced collector. If you're interested in errors and varieties, Alan Herbert's 'Price Guide to Mint Errors' is a great book to inform you on all the different types of errors. It's not as good for varieties, but it will give you a very detailed explination of the minting process, aswell as some great info on how the errors we know so well really happen in the first place. So basically, what I'm saying, 'Pocket Change' for the beginner, 'Cherrypickers' for the intermediate, and 'Mint Errors' for the error/variety collector (and not the cherrypicker). That's just my opinion however. It would probably be best for you to go to Barnes & Noble or Book-a-Million first and ponder over all three before you commit to one.
