Hey all, Looking back on 2022, the mint was extremely dull this year compared to 2019-2020 and 2021. I say the line up for 2023 and looks to be more of the same for 2023 the highlight so far being the Morgan & Peace Dollar 2023 Two-Coin Reverse Proof Set due on fall of 2023. And the Morgan and Peace Dollar Proof also Fall 2023. there's just gonna be some P mint Morgan and Peace dollars in circulated finish otherwise. Seems like they are trying a little more than 2022,,, man it's been a long year.... and they still making a ton of ornaments lie 2022 in 2023. They are still doing the jerkyface pricing of course...... wow. silver was down under $18 a few times this year averaging around $20, a little high now again, but $67 or $73 for a 1 oz. silver eagle... come on man.... Happy New Year yall!
I find the number of offerings that the mint has to be mind boggling. For that reason, I am going to try and limit my purchase the current year's silver Proof set. I might get enticed to buy something else, but I'll try to resist. This year, I did buy the Negro Leagues Baseball commemorative Proof set, but I need to stop doing things like that.
I reserved 2 set of the reverse proof and 2 of the regular proofs. Didn't get any unc. But wasn't paying ebay premiums for the proofs. I can probably get all from the mint for less than one of the RP sets will be selling for.
The mint is boring. Maybe someone will come up with fair to good or even great ideas for '23 and beyond! We can hope right...
Why John? What you've latched onto is some of the lowest mintage commemoratives of recent times. Modern commems will catch fire one of these days, and I only hope the devil I'm still around to see it........
Will U.S. Mint Issue 2023 Commemoratives? - Numismatic News Good Lordy! Say it ain't so. Mo Money in my pocket
No, the modern commemoratives have been out there since 1982, and they are still dead as a hammer. I have the vast majority of the modern commemorative gold coins. I could make a profit on almost all of them but only because of their melt value. “I only hope the devil I’m still around to see it.” Yes, you will be quite old to see the day when the numismatic gives these coins most of their value. The only coins that deader than the modern commemoratives are the first spouse coins which have even lower mint ages.
After saying that I was not going to buy anything from the mint I broke down and bought the Negro League Uncs: 2022 D Negro Leagues Baseball Clad Unc 22CN; Mintage 9,689 2022 P Negro Leagues Baseball Silver Unc 22CL; Mintage 8,345 If the mint would have announced that the mintages for these would be limited to under 10K, folks would have been fighting to get them. Hopefully they will hold their value or increase. If not, I liked the designs for both of them. It was hard paying $38 for a clad half though.
Me, too. In a moment of weakness, after seeing the final mintage figures, I broke down and bought this uncirculated dollar. Not entirely sure why, these issues never hold any value. Justified by realizing I will not be buying any commems in 2023
Back when the Army Clads came in as the lowest mintage commemorative we cleaned out The Coin Vault right after they listed their entire inventory. Trend was $100 plus and if I recall correctly their price was $29.99. The last man stuck in traffic resorted to calling in an order. The rep was completely befuddled stating I know we have these as they were just listed but the computer says zero available…lol, they had 400 when I sent out the buy text.
Yeah, I had to pull the trigger on this one last year, but it's going to a deserving individual though.
