I have searched all over google and ebay and can't find this coin anywhere. Someone I know wants to sell it and we are trying to figure out what to pay for it. It is in an original maple wooden box and comes with certificate showing serial number 51 out of 1492 pieces. Also has original sales receipt showing it was purchased new in 1992. I have pics attached to this message. I have placed a normal US quarter next to the coin for showing scale of size. Any ideas or help on where to look to get a more accurate value? Should we just offer it's worth of weight in silver? Any collectible value?
It's 60 ounces. Multiply that by the spot price of silver. With a lack of any other pricing info, I think that's fair. (But I'm not the one selling. )
It's 60-troy ounces and worth nothing more than that to the vast majority of folks. You may have to settle for selling at slightly under bullion value if selling to most folks. I would not pay full bullion value for that piece. By the way, it is not a coin.
Wouldn't pay over spot for this piece unless I was a die hard CC fan interested in silver and with 1,492 pieces made, I feel that satisfies the majority of them.
Keep it as bullion. Why sell it? If you take it to a coin shop you'll get less than spot. If you sell it to anyone else they will give you spot plus 5%, so I would just hang on to it, and when silver goes up you can sell it.
Send it off and have it slabbed. Can you imagine the size of it? It would make a great crowd stopper at any coin show.
As far as to what to pay for it, I would find the spot value (60xCurrent price per oz of silver) then take that number and you got its worth weight in silver. You can choose to go above or below depending on the situation your in. Personally, I would pay 85% spot.
