That's actually a horrible deal, no one should ever join at that level when the $150 level is free since you get equal submission credit
If you only have a coin or two to send in, it's probably a good deal. An option is to join the ANA. That lets you send coins to NGC.
That's been my plan the past few years. Since I'm an ANA member I'll just submit when I decide to. Lately I've been going to PCGS since I have enough coins to send in to justify my membership there.
I'm sure you know but for anyone that may not when joining PCGS youd want the 250 platinum membership. You save a pretty significant amount if you use the 8 vouchers on the regular tier and can also sell the polo shirt for like $15 making it an even better deal
That's what I have had the past couple years. I donated my last polo shirt to the coin club to give away as a door prize at their annual coin show. In general I like the PCGS holders more than the NGC ones. If coins submitted to NGC cost less than PCGS then I'd probably submit most there. I think NGC is a little more lenient in grading small cents; I tend to agree with their opinions as well.
I agree in my opinion the PCGS holder is miles ahead of everyone else with the water resistance, scratch resistance, and the chip. I know I've said it a lot but I will never understand why NGC is penny smart dollar stupid to upcharge for their scratch resistant holder instead of making it standard when its the standard PCGS holder. That's just shooting yourself in the foot. I also don't like the white fingers either as it completely blocks anything where the clear PCGS ones you can see through/see through to some extent, but I get that doesnt bother a lot of people as much
I don’t think I’ll submit any coins in the next months (year?), as I only buy certified coins. I got maybe 2 PCGS Busties for a crossover submission, where they didn’t mention the variety on the label. So it’s a GREAT opportunity to renew my associate membership.
How would you not submit any choice if you planned a crossover? Do what you want but the associate membership is a dumb way to join. Its really not hard to get to a $150 submission fee
I didn’t say I planned a crossover. I’ll most likely wait until I have more coins to cross. And if I submit only 2 coins the fee will be lower than the $150. Dealers handling large quantities of coins may not understand this.
You strongly inferred it. Submitting 2 coins is also the most expensive way to do it but its you money and once again not a dealer. Sorry for trying to be helpful my bad
Geez people, you still don't get it. You are the best grader of what you desire. Condition, eye appeal, cost, your choice. Still need a TPG, send it to Ding Me. they grade it, slab it, even put a CACA sticker on it for you. 90% off within the next 10 seconds. Sorry, the sell has ended. Sound familiar!
Some of us actually try to be helpful for people making their decisions that have significant value. But what you like, but one would have to be a fool to not consider how the market considers their tastes
