Newby here. I have been April and joined in August. The heading refers to the number of Lincolns I have searched when I started. Because of your site I have all the information and have been studying everything from wexler,Ken Potter, Lincoln resource to coppercoins.com. I waited until I finished my tenth bag of Lincolns before I posted my findings. One thing I have read is that some members have trouble getting coins from banks. Far from in where I live in southern Colorado. I deal with several banks ( none of which I have an account ) and they are happy to sell bags of cents. They do not carry Half or dollar coins but they may order if I ask. Right now I am into cents. Any I digress. Here is what I found out of 50000 cents. First no WAMS or CAMS at all surprising isn't it. Any way my total is 8037 copper cents non wheat 273 wheat cents consisting of 47 different dates oldest being 1912D 297 Lincoln 2009 all versions both mints Phase 1 D 32 P 14 Phase 2 D 86 P 10 Phase 3 D 97 P 13 Phase 4 D 35 P 10 38 Canadian cents consisting of 28 different dates oldest being 1945 11 Rosies 1 Quarter 1905 Indian A Zincoln Planchett 2.5g a Bahama one cent and a Tieland 1 Baht Oddeities are 1972D " iberty " no visible L a 3,1g 19?? and a 200? Filled mint marks; 4) 68D, 2) 74S, @) 78D, 1)79D, 1) 81D, 1) 82D and 1)90D 1) 1974S lg date and 2) 1060D sm date Verieties are 60D/D, 68D/D, 68S/S, 71S/S, 83D/D and 87D/D on the I use a split screen on my computer showing the lincoln resource pictures with my digital microscope. the best way to compare what I have. Works great. As for the 1982D small date none. Big supprise. Mostely 82D lg date couple hundred. Very fer 82P sm date. Even less in zinc both mints. Am keeping all 60's and any with S mint. So there you have it. Maybe the 82D sm will be in the next 50000 cents. Like you all say happy hunting.
Welcome to coin talk! Nice finds.............. feel free to post picture's too. We like pictures. Any time you go coin roll hunting you can post your finds on this discussion.https://www.cointalk.com/threads/roll-searchers-post-your-results.10176/ Thanks Noah!
I can also get boxes but the last one wound up having mostly new cents. Here I have better luck with bags.
I knew you would like pictures and am working on it. May take some time. Do I post them here or elsewhere. And thanks for the welcome.
Awesome keeping track of the stats like that. Curious, did you hoard the copper or did you just keep track? Going to have to try asking for a bag next time. Like you, the boxes at my bank were mostly all 2017 (12+ rolls) and 2018 (50 rolls ). There should be an "Upload a File" button or click on the Image icon next to smiley face in the toolbar.
I had thought about keeping all copper but decided not to. Just keeping the 59 and all 60's p l us the "S" mint marks. They all seem to be the scarcer than the rest.
Yes. Looking for OMM, RPM and just about anything odd or different. My original listed missing letters and numbers. Doubled die would be nice also.
Good job finding the blank zincoln. About one out of every 5 boxes I get turns out to be all new rolls but I still haven't been fortunate to find the elusive blank.
You went through 50,000 cents and didn't come up with a single 82 D small date? Not even the zinc ones?
Any bank or place that has their own coin counter should be able to sell you bags of cents. I filled several bags at my local credit union when I cashed in my rejects. You wouldn't want my rejects but lots of folks cash in their piggy banks.
Where I live the closest banks are 35 miles away. There are 6 different banks that cover the whole valley and I deal with two of them. They collect and bag coins every day and send the full bags out to the fed on Tuesdays. At least thats what they told me. I usually finish a bag every 3 weeks and switch it out on Monday. Once they had a gentleman turn in 15 years of coins with 2 bags of cents. I get both. That's where I found the 1905 Indian and some of the older wheat. Usually average 20 wheat's per bag. I actually think I am the only person doing this here. As long as wheat's are in the bag I will keep going.
I have found them but only keep the good ones. out of the 50000 There where maybe twenty five 82 D small date zinc. Out of all varieties of the 82 cent the most of what I find are the 82 D copper large date.
Just for information's sake when I get a bag I separate all shield and memorial cents then weigh every memorial to separate the copper. I weigh them all just because you never can tell where a different copper will turn up. Once all sorting and counting is done then I go through all coins by date looking for the good on. Takes time but I like it.
Welcome to Coin Talk! It sounds like you are very thorough with your searches. I am the same way. I enjoy the hunt and the speed of it really doesn't matter.
