I have a 2021 Penny with a line of copper coming down from the edge above the W in (In God We Trust), through the W and into Lincoln's head. It is hard to see once it enters his head, but is there about to level of his ear. Anyone else find one of these? Any value to it? Note that I also found another penny, a 2022 with a glob between the coin edge and the W, but it does not extend down.
Visit cuds on coins - http://cuds-on-coins.com/lincoln-cent-spike-heads-2020-2029/ Have a look at SKH-1c-2021-03 There is a modest premium in high grade provided you can find a buyer. But less than $1. Good luck attributing your coin.
Kevin nailed this coin. Spike head. They are some peoples who like to collect those coins. The new era coins (cents) has this Die Crack on aging Dies due to the forces of the new horisontal presses. The Mint know well the problem which occur in general after 100 K strikes. (from Mint report 2019 to the Congress for the results of the studies on alternative metals)
Yes. Die break, die Chips and cuds are well known. It's when the Die used to strike the blank planchet is worn and it cracks or pieces start to break off. When it strikes the blank the metal from the planchet fills the void in the die so it appears raised on the coin such as your Cent. Keep in mind that it is never added material on the surface. You mentioned 'a line of copper' and 'a glob' in you post so I imagine that you believe it's added metal when it is not.
