Did anyone else get any of these with a spot like this one on it? Idk how well you can see it in this picture but it seems to be what looks like a pit. I got this at a low end price from a mint place. Wondering if anyone else got any like this from the mint or otherwise? I have watched some videos of some having milk spots. Some pretty unsightly even. Just hadn't yet saw a post here. I have a friend who got one straight from the mint with a rub mark already on it.
If that’s all you can find wrong with this coin, consider yourself lucky. Milk spots are a legitimate complaint, but a tiny mark like this isn’t. I have something similar on the Peace Dollar I received. Do you think every coin from the mint has to be an MS-70? If you do, your expectations are excessive.
It is probably a tiny strike thru. The color indicates what made it is still inside the depression. Although it is tiny. I'm sure it will increase the value of your coin FOR SOME collectors. Usually, tiny Mint-made defects will not lower the grade. This one may be borderline enough to influence the eye appeal. Nevertheless, these coins are not showing up with many defects at all. As I wrote before, they are producing coins as nice as Daniel Carr and they even look something he made!
I was just curious of other people's experiences is all. I hadn't yet seen a post and I was starting to think, am I the only one? For what I paid im not complaining after watching YouTube unboxing videos. I pre ordered an ms70. Curious if it'll have anything like this on it now?
Considering the truly awful coins I've seen in both the Morgans and Peace dollars, I'd consider myself lucky if I were you. The Mint did a horrible job with these.
Not sure what this means...? If it's one that someone else bought from the Mint, opened, and then resold, I'd assume that they were trying to keep the best ones for themselves. That's one reason some issues resell at a premium if they're "still in the sealed Mint shipping box".
Peace dollars much nicer looking than originals but the Morgans are big dud,Have a "chrome" look.Ill take a nice early S mint or a 1898 O or 1899 O over these any day.One of my 6 dollars ,a1921-P ,had a tic but other than that ,quality was good but wait untill NGC weighs in on that.
Yes it was an online seller. Patriotic mint. I know what they did. I just wondered if this was a normal occurrence to get blemished coins from the mint. Like I say, I bought them at what we the cheapest free shipping prices i had seen in days. That come from what looked to be a somewhat reputable seller. I've seen some cheaper but if they have 3 feedback and no returns I'll pass.
And the packaging, really? The mint sends these out in packaging that can come apart leaving the coin loose in the box during shipping? I cut a piece of bubble wrap. 3 cents worth and placed inside the ogp to keep it from happening in my storage. With the prices they sold for they could have made something in the lid to keep it closed during shipping. I had one come this way and I saw some videos where others had this happen. The whole point in these is to keep them as pristine as possible...
NUTS! From what I've seen I'm amazed how these coins came out so nice. That said, I am working on a press release for two Mint Errors on the 1921-D dollars I took in at the Bi-Club Holiday Show at the Oldsmar Flea Market. One is major. Watch for it. I expect this to become a big show in the future.
