Looks like a nice addition to the collection. I know many do not like Mint direct buying, but I will add 2 sets of these for the Grand-Daughters. 2019 Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Commemorative Coin Program Designs Unveiled Speaking of commemorative coin programs, two new programs will be offered in 2019—one to celebrate the centennial of the American Legion and the other to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11flight and first manned Moon landing on July 20, 1969. The designs for the Apollo 11 coins were unveiled in a ceremony at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum in Washington on October 11. Line art images of the obverse and reverse designs for 2019 Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Gold Coin Seven distinct coins will be issued under this program: • $5 gold proof and uncirculated • silver dollar proof and uncirculated • clad half dollar proof and uncirculated • five-ounce silver dollar proof A special Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Half-Dollar Set will feature an Apollo 11 Proof Half Dollar and a Kennedy Half Dollar featuring an enhanced reverse proof finish. All seven coins issued through the program will be curved–the obverses concave and the reverses convex. Watch for them early next year! We’re Seeing Stars!
Worthy subject matter but, as usual, seven coins is far too many. That curved 5 ounce coin should be, um, interesting.
They should do this on a circulating coin like the Quarter, but I guess that would make sense. Oh and not concave for circulation.
I thought Stanley Kubrick filmed the Moon landing on a sound stage. I’m going to stand in the corner....
