I have a 2019 D ATB Texas quarter with some kind of round mark that looks like a tool mark with an aura around it that looks like a burn mark or toning. It’s under the left side of the domed opening of the bell tower on the reverse. I’m wondering if anyone can shed any light on what this may be? Is this an error and does it add value to the coin?
Welcome to CT! I can’t tell much from your picture. You should always post full, (not thumbnails) cropped obverse, reverse and closeups pictures of the area(s) in question. This will help everyone to give you a better opinion.
That is very interesting. Please post a photo of just that area in full frame. Thanks and welcome to CT.
Welcome to CT. Almost looks like someone tried to put "wheels" under the arches. LOL As mentioned, Full Image photos and close ups of the area would be helpful.
I've seen spots like that where a speck of some chemical has started deterioration around where it deposited itself.
Thank you all for your responses. I took some new pictures, I’m hoping they show up as full images this time. Yeah I’ve never seen a coin with something like this. I don’t know if it’s an after mint addition someone made or a mint error.
That is much better. I’m going to agree with @Kentucky. Appears a chemical of some sort started corrosion there evident by the green in the center.
Thanks for the better photos. I thinknit is damage caused by something that is eating thevmetal in that area away. It's neat looking.
